GOOD DEEDER: The woman in the Blue Honda Minivan in front of me. 🙂
I have been writing about good deeds that inspire others. But now, I have a good deed that involved me………as the recipient.
Last week I was the recipient of a random act of kindness. On a daily basis, I am searching for random things I can do to make someone’s day a little better. I wasn’t expecting it to ever come back to me, but it did in a surprising way. Here is what happened.
It was a typical Tuesday night, soccer practice has just ended and I decided to take my son by Dairy Queen for a Blizzard. I opted to go through the drive thru versus going inside the store. The line was fairly long, about 7 cars or so. It seemed to be taking longer than normal, but my son was talking to me about his favorite video game, so the time passed quickly and we were at the window. I reached out with my money to pay and the very happy, smiling, young lady said “no thank you, your order has been paid for by the car in front of you”. She then handed me one of my Non Profit’s very own Glorious Good Deed cards. Wow! The feeling I had that a complete stranger did something so nice for me, was awesome. The feeling I had knowing Glorious Good Deeds was their inspiration was inspiring. The irony here just makes me smile. The person in front of me had no idea they were giving the founder of GGD a good deed. Wait for it…….the circle of events needs to sink in. HA! And in case your are wondering what I did? I kept the good deed string going by paying for the person behind me. I upped the ante by also included a few of our great wristbands for them.
We have a focus this year to lead by example. We have started to put together several ways we will be doing just that. Does anyone want a Blizzard now? I do. God Bless!
